Forest official held in illegal assets case

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has arrested divisional forest officer of Haripur for allegedly being involved in accumulation of illegal assets worth Rs28.87 million.
A statement issued here on Tuesday said after matter was brought into notice of NAB authorities, they ordered an inquiry to ascertain the facts and collect requisite evidence regarding moveable and immoveable properties owned, controlled and possessed by the accused DFO Tauheed-ul-Haq (BPS-18), and his dependents.
During the course of inquiry, it was revealed that the DFO, during his stints in different capacities in various districts of KP and Fata accumulated assets worth millions of rupees in his name and in the name of his dependents.
The illegal properties, disproportionate to known sources of his income included dozens of plots in Charsadda, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, a shop at the fruit and vegetable market, Inqilab Road, Peshawar, and several cars.
It was stated that inquiry was being actively pursued and more alarming facts were on the cards. The accused will be presented in the accountability court for obtaining his physical remand, said the NAB statement.
