LAHORE: A student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan of his hostel room in the Nawab Town area here on Friday.

Idendhed as Muhammad Imran, a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan, the deceased was a student of an engineering university.

A police official said the deceased was living in a private hostel. He said Imran`s brother, who was settled abroad, hadalerted his friend when he found his (Imran) mobile phone not responding despite repeated calls.

As Imran`s friend visited the room, he found his body hanging from the ceiling f an.

Police suspect it to be a suicide case but the students staying in the hostel were unaware of any possible reasons for the suicide.

The body was shif ted to the morgue for autopsy to further investigation.

Imran`s family has been informed about the incident.
