BAJAUR: The police on Wednesday recovered the abducted baby boy after he was taken away from the labour room of the District Headquarters Hospital here on Tuesday morning, a senior police official said.
Talking to Dawn, district police officer Nazeer Khàn said that the newborn was recovered from a house in Sevai area of Mamond tehsil by a team led by DSP Naimatullah.
Mr Khan said that soon after the newborn was abducted allegedly by a woman while the child was being shifted to a ward from the labour room, a police team led by the Khar police station SHO immediately reached the hospital to launch investigation into the matter.
The DPO said that CCTV footage showed that a burqa-clad woman along with a teenage girl taking way the child from the hospital’s labour room. He said that the suspected woman was later arrested and shifted to the Khar police station, where she initially denied her involvement in the child’s abduction.
However, the DPO said later the women confessed to abducting the child and said the newborn had been shifted to Sevai area of Mamond. He said that the police had registered a case against the woman.
