Illegal plaza demolished amid shooting by encroachers

LAHORE: A team of the Punjab Enforcement Regulatory Authority (PERA) aided by Lahore administration came under fire on Saturday when it tried to demolish an illegal commercial plaza near the Quaid-i-Azam Interchange on Ring Road.
According to sources, Shalimar Assistant Commissioner Saqib Tarazi was supervising the operation along with the zonal officer of Wahga Zone when alleged encroachers opened fire with automatic weapons.
Fortunately, all official remained safe.
The AC called more police force which apprehend the assailants along with their armed accomplices.
According to Lahore DC Syed Musa Raza, the Shalimar AC, along with PERA officers, conducted the anti-encroachment operation against an illegal commercial plaza constructed on the Ring Road service lane at Kotli Ghasi (Shalimar Zone).
During the operation, the encroachers opened fire and tried to avert the action.
`Despite the threat, the field team stood ground and completed the operation in two hours. The illegal structure was completely demolished and three individuals were arrested on-site while one managed to flee.
