HYDERABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf`s secretary general, Salman Akram Raja, has warned that prevailing unrest in the country can go into any direction and Imran Khan is the only and last leader, who is still keeping the nation united.
`When masses are snubbed countries are weakened. In past, many tried to rule the country with `stick` and purged the country of democracy but they always left Pakistan weakened,` he said at a convention `Release Imran Khan` held at the residence of a local PTIleader late on Friday night.
He said that Imran Khan was in jail for the sake of people. `Khan would have been out of prison had he wanted and settled in some Saroor palace but he is not striking any deal,` he said.
He said that Feb 8 was the great day when people expressed their will and raised their voice. `But you were snubbed on Feb 8, 2024,and your vote was suppressed,` he said.
He urged people not to forget Feb 8 as `evil forces` tried to dismiss this `will` and since then the country was facing constant `deception`.
Everyone knew Pakistan`s institutions were attacked and they had become a tool of oppression, he said.
He questioned why Sindh lagged behind other provinces and said it was part of larger plan to keep the poor poorer and the rich richer.
Imran Khan was telling people that he would not accept tyranny and when people came out he would be out of prison, he said.
Raja said that Constitution allowed freedom of expression and movement so that people could raise their voice. People had proved that they were fearless and this fearlessness would lead to Pakistan`s freedom, he said.
He said that he had visited Balochistan where people were protesting against enforced disappearance of their loved-ones, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa millions wereprotesting against drone attacks while Punjab was facing poverty.
He lambasted the government for exporting sugar and now importing the sweetener only to benefit `sugar mafia`.
Imran Khan tried to enforce a uniform system of education for the rich and the poor, he said. He said that several people ruled the country with `stick` be it 60s or 80s and told people that only the `stick`, not jamhooriyat`, could address the country`s problems. But, he said, each time they left behind a weakened Pakistan.
`When masses are snubbed countries are weakened. People of Bangladesh took their decision. Today`s unrest in Pakistan can go to any direction and it is Imran Khan who is the only and last leader to hold people and the country untied,` he said.
