ISLAMABAD: A local court on Saturday suspended the six-month sentence handed to 12 PTI workers under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order (PAPO) Act and granted them bail.
Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shahzad Gondal heard the appeals and, after considering arguments from both sides, ordered the suspension of the sentence.
The court approved bail for each worker against surety bonds of Rs 20,000.
The PTI workers were previously convicted in two cases registered at the Ramna police station.
A few days earlier, the court had sentenced them to six months in prison in connection with charges of disrupting public order.
The bail was granted under Section 382-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows relief in sentences when appeals are pending or circumstances warrant reconsideration.
