Boy drowns in Swat stream

SWAT/LAKKI MARWAT: A 13-year old boy identified as Rehan, resident of Rahimabad, drowned while taking bath in the Landi Kas (stream) in Mingora on Frid ay.
According to a spokesperson of Rescue 1122, the boy was swimming along with friends when he reportedly drowned in the stream. Upon receiving the information, Rescue 1122`s water search and rescue team, along with a medical unit, was immediately dispatched to the scene.
The rescue team promptly launched a search operation, recovered the boy, and administered emergency first aid (CPR) inside the ambulance.
Later, he was rushed to central hospital Saidu Sharif, where the doctors upon examination confirmed his death.
Meanwhile, body of a young man was recovered from a dam in Karak district on Friday.
A Rescue 1122 official said the young man drowned in the dam while taking bath, adding, `After a hectic search, the divers pulled out the body from the water reservoir and shifted it to a hospital in the Sabirabad town.
He said that the deceased could not be identified immediately.
Meanwhile, the Lakki Marwat Rescue 1122 emergency service has launched a massive awareness drive about safety and preventive measures during floods in the ongoing monsoon rainfall season.
An official said that huge banners highlighting the safety measures had been displayed at public places. The citizens have been advised to avoid going near riverbanks and streams and contact rescue emergency service in case of any emergency, he added. Dawn Report
