APROPOS the editorial `Chairlift incident` (Aug 22). It rightly says that all-out efforts be made to ensure that Patriata, being a popular tourist spot, is made secure for visitors.
The management should focus on the chairlift`s safety, particularly the reliability of the guy-wire (steel rope) on which the chairlift hangs and moves.
A guy wire comprises many strands of wires and has an operational life. Its strength is affected by aging, rust and constant friction. It should be checked and tested to quantify hidden adverse conditions within the strands. Let`s make it as safe and secure as possible.
