Car tracking in official vehicles in two phases

LAHORE: The 5th meeting of the special committee constituted to review technical aspects of implementation of the CM`s directive regarding installation of trackers in government vehicles was held on Monday in Civil Secretariat. Additional Chief Secretary Shamall Ahmad Khwaja presided over themeeting.

The meeting decided to implement the project in two phases. In the first phase, installation of `XML` tracking system will be completed in 500 vehicles belonging to S&GAD, health department, agriculture department and excise & taxation department. This pilot phase will becompleted till December 31, says a handout.

In the second phase, 3500 remaining government vehicles being used in various government departments, including all the administrative departments and attached field offices, will be equipped with the latest kind of tracking system. These vehiclesalso include 2575 vehicles of S&GAD Punjab.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will be the execution authority for this project. It was decided in the meeting that the autonomous bodies will have to install the tracking systems in the vehicles on their own expenses.
