KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead and his accomplice injured critically in an alleged encounter in North Karachi on Monday evening, according to Sir Syed police.
They added that two armed pillion riders snatched cell phones, cash and other valuables from three citizens near Kalyana Chowk. In the meantime, Shaheen Force of police reached the spot. As the policemen closed in on thesuspects, they resorted to firing. But after an exchange of firing, both suspects were arrested in critical condition.
They were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where doctor s pronounce d one of them identified as Wuklaj as dead while his accomplice Abdul Rehman was admitted for treatment.
The police claimed to have recovered two pistols, one motorbike and looted valuables of the citizens from them.
Three robbery victims were brought at the Sir Syed police station where anFIR was registered against the deceased and injured suspects about the alleged encounter and illegal possession of arms and robbed items.
A 37-year-old man was shot dead in Manghopir on Monday evening.
Police said Asmatullah was gunned down inside his home in Noorani Goth.
Area SHO Ateeg Rehman said he was killed by two suspects namely Mohammed Nazeer and Mohammed Hanif over a monetary dispute. The body was shifted to the ASH. The suspects fled.
