I was seriously disappointed by the government`s handling of the recent Haj pilgrimage. The most distressing aspect of the entire experience was the complete lack of facilitation and support from the officials deputed during Haj.

Instead ofprovidingassistance and guidance to the pilgrims, the officials appeared helpless and evaded responsibility by shifting the blame on to Saudi officials. Such an attitude not only showcases lack of accountability, but also reflects the government`s failure to ensure adequate arrangements and support for its citizens.

Moreover, the quality of food provided during the pilgrimage was far from satisfactory. Most of the food was wasted. This negligence was indicative of a systemic failure within the government`s administrative structure.

Pilgrims complained many a time, but no action was taken. They were forced to go out and eat on their own.

The poor standard of hotels, inadequate amenities, and maintenance issues made for an uncomfortable and distressing experience for many. Furthermore, the state of washrooms, lacking even the most basic amenities and cleanliness, was a clear reflection of the government`s apathy towards the sanctity and dignity of the pilgrims. This level of disregard for the wellbeing of the faithful was both disheartening and unacceptable.

In addition, there was lack of organised queues at hotels, Mina, Arafat and Muzdalfa, and of proper travel management. Instead of ensuring a smooth and streamlined process, the absence of clear protocols resulted in chaos and unnecessary delays. This inconvenienced the pilgrims, and posed a risk to their safety and security.

One of the missing elements of government-sponsored Haj scheme was the exclusion of well-versed scholars, or muallims, who accompany the pilgrims and provide valuable insights into the historical and religious significance of the sacred sites.

This enrichment enhances the spiritual experience and deepens the pilgrims` connection with the journey.

There should be a proactive and dedicated effort to ensure that all aspects of the pilgrimage are meticulously planned and executed. Also, certain amount of money should be refunded to pilgrims with respect to non-availability of services despite the exorbitant charges the pilgrims were asked to dish out.

The Haj pilgrimage holds immense religious significance for millions of Muslims, and it is the government`s duty beyond doubt to ensure a seamless and spiritually fulfilling experience.
