Power outages take toll on consumers

R A W A L P I N D I : Frequent power outages in different parts of the garrison city perturbed the local residents who said that the electricity tariff had increased manifolds but the electricity supply has not improved.

The most affected areas are Gulraiz Colony, Car Chowk, Lahore High Court Road and adjoining areas.

The local residents said that the power outages were frequent in their areas. `We are without electricity from 7a.m. to 12noon on Thursday. It was a daily routine, the electricity switched off and we had to face difficulty in humid weather, said Mohammad Abdullah, a resident ofGulraiz Colony.

He said the officials at complaint office did not respond clearly and said that there was problem in mainline. Mohammad Farukh, a resident of Lahore High Court Road, said that it was a routine, the electricity went off.

He said that when tried to contact the number written on electricity bills, the phone was engaged and no one respond.

Sajid Khan, a shopkeeper, said that it was difficult to complete the work without electricity.

He said that in his workshop of motorcycles, we cannot do work in absence of electricity and mostly clients shifted to other workshops in adjoining areas. IESCO spokesman Raja Asim was not available despite repeated attempts to contact him.
