ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: The Commissioner Peshawar and a woman received burn injuries when a Pak Tower apartment caught fire here on Saturday evening, police said.
The incident came to light when the Rescue-15 and City Fire Brigade were informed that a fire had erupted in the studio apartment, located in the basement of the Pak Tower.
The police and fire fighters reached the spot and immediately got adjacent flats vacated to avoid further damage and started rescue works.
The rescue teams found two persons lying burnt in the apartment and shifted them to hospital immediately.
Later the fire fighters also extinguished the fire, but it had badly damaged the apartment.
One of the injured was identified asCommissioner Peshawar Sahibzada Mohammad Anees, who suffered 100 per cent burn injuries and is being kept in the burn unit of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
The woman suffered 45 per cent burn and was also in a critical condition. She refused to give any statement.
The commissioner along with his family came to Islamabad to see off his son who was going to London.
After dropping the son at the airport the commissioner and his family came to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House.
The police said that the studio apartment was owned by commissioner`s friend.
The police and the fire fighters examined the apartment and said that the fire broke out due to gas leakage.
