Ulema call for harmony between sects

KARACHI: Ulema from different schools of thought said on Sunday some anti-Islam forces wanted to create anarchy in Muslim countries by fomenting sectarian violence and the unity the Ummah could foil such conspiracies.
They were speaking at a `Religious Harmony and Peace Conference`, organised jointly by the Milli Yakjehti Council, Sindh, and the Karachi chapter of Jamaati-Islami at the Idara-i-Noor Haq.
They said they would not allow the western powers to create divisions between various Muslim sects.
Speakers at the conference which was presided over by MYCchief Asadullah Bhutto and attended by emir of JI`s Karachi chapter Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, JUI leader Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, Mirza Muhammad Yousuf, Hafiz Muhammad Salafi, Maulana Khaleeq-ur-Rehman Habib, Muhammad Rafi, Maulana Zia-urRehman Farooqui, Maulana Abdul Waheed, Allama Jaffar Subhani, Qutub Ahmed and Shah Kafeel Ahmed condemned the recent terrorist attack on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and paid tribute to the late chief of JI Bangladesh Prof Ghulam Azam.
Mr Bhutto, who is also the JI`s naib emir, said the life of Hazrat Imam Husain was an example for every Muslim and his sacrifices for Islam taught Muslims never to bow to evil forces.
