Robber `killed` by accomplice in encounter

KASUR: A robber was `accidentally` killed by his accomplice during an exchange of gunfire with police on Sunday near Olakh Otar by-pass.

According to police, three robbers snatched a motorcycle from Ghulam Muhammad at gunpoint near Naul Otar village on Saturday night. Muhammad called police at 15 that chased the robbers.

The suspects hid in sugarcane Helds near Olakh Otar by-pass and opened fire at the police team that was retaliated. One of the suspects was hit by a bullet from his accomplice. After a shootout of about half an hour, the remaining two suspects fled from the scene leaving their injured accomplice in a critical condition.

The injured robber was rushed to Kot Radha Kishan Civil Hospital but died on the way. He was identified as Ashraf ofBagrian village, Lahore. According to police, he was wanted in several cases of robbery and dacoity in Kasur and Sialkot.

PROTEST: The murder of a man allegedly by his rivals over an old enmity on Sunday sparked a protest on Multan Road near Mallanwala by-pass.

Protesters blocked the main road by placing the body of the victim and blocked traffic for over three hours.

Afzal and Awais of Awan Chak 30 Pattoki shot dead Muhammad Babar of the same village on Sunday morning when the latter was on his way home. On reaching near Halla Road close to Burj Mahalam Chak 35 village, the two suspects shot him dead on the spot.

Later, relatives and fellow villagers put Babar`s body near Malanwala by-pass and staged a protest demonstration against police and blocked the road. They demanded registration of a case and arrest of the suspects within 24 hours.The protest had not ended until the filing of this report on Sunday evening.

Negotiations between police and protesters were underway.

Eclectrocuted A five-year-old boy was electrocuted after he touched the shutter of a general store in the main bazaar.

The family staged a demonstration and blocked the road near National Bank Chowk by placing the body of the victim there and burning tyres.

According to police, Chand was playing in the bazaar near his house on Saturday night when he accidently touched the shutter with electricity running through it.

The victim`s family placed his body on the road and blocked traffic near National Bank Chowk.

They demanded registration of a first information report and arrest of the shop-keeper. On the assurance of City Deputy Superintendent of Police Hassan Farooq, the protesters dispersed peacefully.

On the complaint of Amanat Ali, the father of the victim, police lodged an FIR against the shopkeeper.

Killed A woman allegedly with the connivance of herlover1(illed herhusbandandinjured her four-year-old daughter on Sunday in Maloki village.

According to complainant Karamat Ali, his brother Inayat was sleeping in the courtyard of his house with his daughter Anam when his sister-in-law Fouzia along with her lover shot dead Inayat and injured Anam.

The suspects managed to escape from the scene. The injured baby was hospitalised.

Police started investigating.
