LAHORE: The family of a pregnant girl, who was allegedly gang-raped, has said they would staged sit-in outside the National Assembly if the culprits werenottakentotask.
`We will also take the girl along and will stay there till justice is done,` said Aamir, a cousin of the victim belonging to Chichawatni in Sahiwal district, at a news conference on Monday at Lahore Press Club.
Aamir said suspects `K` and his servant `As` forcibly entered the house of the girl on Feb 26 last when her family was not present. The suspects held the girl at gunpoint and allegedly gangraped her.
He said the suspects also made a video and threatened to upload it on internet if she told anybody about the incident.
Aamir said the suspects continued to blackmail the girl for two months and when she threatened to report the incident, they again tried to molest her. The girl raised a hue and cry and family members reached the spot and overpowered the suspects, he added.
He said the family approached Ghaziabad police station and lodged a rape attempt case against the suspect. Adding when the girl was sent for medical checkup,thereportrevealed that she was two-month pregnant.
He said later police also registered second rape case on the directive of Sahiwal Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Muhammad Dogar while incorporating section 7-ATA against the suspects.
Aamir said the main suspect was still at large and police were not arresting him `after receiving bribe.
A senior police official on condition of anonymity told Dawn that the family first reported rape attempt case on April 13, 2015 and later approached to lodge a gangrape case against three suspects after one and a half months.
He said police also registered the gang-rape case as the girl was four-month pregnant and after polytrophic tests it revealed that one person had raped the girl. The suspect, `As`, who was in custody, confessed to have relations with the girl.
