SWABI: The transgender persons held a demonstration here on Thursday to lodge their protest against the misbehaviour of local police.
The protesters said that police were depriving them of their source of livelihood.
They marched towards the offices of police officials and chanted slogans against what they called the `rigid behaviour`of policemen.
Led by their president Sidra, the protesters alleged that police disturbed their musical shows and made it difficult for them to make booth ends meet.
They said that they got permission from the authorities before performing at a musical show but despite that police stopped them from performance through dif ferent tactics.
`We earn our livelihood through musical shows. We can`t meet our needs without performing at musical concerts. We are not terrorists. We are peaceful citizens of this country like other people. Let`s us love peacefully,` said Sidra.However, police said that they raided a hujra where a music concert was going on when they got report about firing in the air. They said that owner of the hujra was arrested and FIR was lodged against him.
PRICES: The prices of tomato and onion have increased in the district and each of the two key kitchen items is available at Rs100 per kilogram.
The shopkeepers said that they could not rule out more increase in the price of the two vegetables. They said that they had no option but to increase the prices when they were getting tomato and onion at higher prices from the main traders.
However, the consumers said that it was responsibility of the provincial government to check prices of the vegetables and ensure supply to the market according to the demand of the people.
They said that government should take steps for controlling the price of the vegetables and other commodities.Correspondent
