Scholar`s services for Islam hailed

ABBOTTABAD: Glowing tributes were paid to religious scholar Maulana Mohammad Ishaq who rendered unmatched services for the promotion of Islam in the region and played active role in the Pakistan Movement.

To acknowledge his services the KP government renamed Abbotabad library after Maulana Mohammad Ishaq who has the unique honor of serving as Khateebi-Hazara for 50 years, says a press release.

The announcement to this effect was made by the adviser to chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on higher education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani at an impressive ceremony held at Jalal Baba auditorium here the other day.

Speakers including the scion of great religious scholar Mohammad Ilyas Lodhi and district Khateeb Abbottabad Maulana Abdul Majid threw light on the life of Maulana Ishaq and eulo-gised his services for Islam.

Besides, they said, he was also a moving spirit in the Pakistan Movement in Hazara.

Speakingonthe occasion, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said he felt honoured to announce renaming of the Abbotabad library after the great religious scholar and an active soldier of Pakistan Movement, a decision that was made af ter the approval of the provincialcabinet.

Mushtaq Ghani underlined the need for publishing books on the lives of Maulana Mohammad Ishaq and another Sun saint Jalal Baba to be placed in the library in order to apprise the young generation of the great service these personalities rendered for the uplift of Islam in the region and Pakistan movement. He said the life and personality of Maulana Ishaq was the beacon light for us in generaland the young generation in particular that should follow his footsteps.
