Shangla teachers plan sit-in in Banigala

SHANGLA: The teachers recruited through National Testing Service (NTS) have announced to hold a sit-in on Sunday outside the Banigala residence of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan for regularisation of their services.

The announcement was made by NTS-recruited teachers during a meeting held in Alpuri with its district president Hayatullah in the chair on Thursday.

The young teachers from different parts of Shangla attended the meeting.

Mr Hayatullah said that the provincial government had been making commitments concerning regularisation of teachers since 2014, but it f ailed to materialise them.

Sajjad Hussain, general secretary of the teachers organisation, claimed that hundreds of NTS-recruited teachers would participate in the sit-in. He said that the call was given by their provincial leadership for holding a sit-in outside Imran`s residence in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl district chief Maulana Rahat Hussain warned to take tostreets if the decision about appointment of female teachers in boys` schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not withdrawn.

Speaking at a party meeting in Alpuri on Thursday, he said that they would oppose the PTI-led government`s plan of appointment of women teachers in the boys schools.

The provincial government, he said, should immediately withdraw the decision otherwise it would face strong agitation from the religious parties. It was also announced on the occasion that party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would visit Shangla next month for a public meeting.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE: Puran tehsil nazim Raja Usman launched a cleanliness campaign in Aloch area here on Thursday.

Tehsil municipal of ficials and councillors were also present on the occasion. An awareness walk about the importance of cleanliness was also held.

The nazim asked the people to keep their surroundings clean by ensuring proper disposal of waste. Correspondent
