By Our Staff Reporter 2018-10-27
KARACHI: Speakers at a seminar on breast cancer treatment in the country on Thursday said the disease would affect women in their fifties or more in the past, but now it was alarmingly spreading among younger women.

Speaking at the programme titled `Effective treatment measures of breast cancer` organised by the microbiology department of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission and Pink Ribbon, Dr Mohammad Zahid said unhealthy lifestyle and unbalanced eating habits could also cause breast cancer among women.

Registrar Afzal Ahmed said October was traditionally observed as a month for awareness about breast cancer worldwide and the programme was part of that effort.

He said women needed to get aware about self-diagnosing the disease as its timely detection was essential for its cure and saving lives.
