A case study

2023-10-27
THIS is with reference to the article `Lavish diplomacy` (Sept 24) which scrutinised what India sought to achieve and to what extent it had its way at the recent G20 summit. The article appeared to downplay what India had gained during the two-day summit.

TIndeed, te absence of Chinese representation was conspicuous, but there were so many others, including those heading American and British governments.

With due diplomatic astuteness, India successfully maintained a delicate balance in its relations withboth the United States and Russia. This was no mean feat. Besides, India has wisely used the event to burnish its credentials as being a country that can offer leadership to the Global South.

The whole point here is not to praise Indian achievements, but to stress the need for us to put off the blinkers of bias and learn from the neighbour`s success story.

We should use data for a case study so that we may have our own success stories.
