KARACHl: A mob caught and thrashed a fleeing suspect after he resorted to firing and a bullet caused fatal wounds to a young passerby at Sohrab Goth on Thursday, according to the area police.

SHO Ashraf Jogi of the Sohrab Goth police station said that three armed robbers snatched cash and other valuables from a man, who was visiting the graveyard near Shah Ismail Shaheed seminary in Chatta Gabol Goth to offer fateha on the grave of his relative his relative.

He said while the robbers were fleeing, some people present around raised a hue and cry attracting attention of residents the nearby neighbourhood who rushed to the victim`s rescue. A mob of local people chased the suspects who got panicked and resorted to firing killing a passer-by, later identified as Hazrat Umer, 24.

The mob caught hold of one suspect, Irfan Buledi, and subjected him to severe beating before arrival of the police.

The injured suspect was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital under custody for treatment. The police claimed to have seized a pistol with a loaded magazine from him. His motorcycle and a mobile phone were confiscated.

The body of Hazrat Umar was also transported to the hospital for a postmortem examination.

Man shot dead A man was shot dead in Orangi Town late Wednesday evening, according to the Pirabad police.

They said that an unidentified man, in his mid-40s, was shot dead by unknown suspects near the Al-Khidmat Hospital. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
