LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday denied post-arrest bail to PTl Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, former governor Umar Sarfraz Cheema and former provincial minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed in six cases of May 9 riots.
Judge Arshad Javed announced the decision on the bail petitions filed by the PTl leaders in six cases, including torching the PML-N office in Model Town, police vehicles in Gulberg, a container near Kalma Chowk and others.
Earlier, special prosecutor Abdul Jabbar Dogar concluded his arguments and presented police record before the court.
The lawyers for the petitioners rejected the charges against their clients, saying they had been implicated in the `false` cases on political considerations. The judge adjourned the bail petitions of former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi till Nov 6.
Around a dozen cases had been registered in Lahore alone against the PTl leaders and workers for attacking and vandalising public and private property besides army facilities, including the Jinnah House, during the last year protests on May 9.-Staff Reporter
