MWM leader shot dead

ISLAMABAD: In what appears to be an act of sectarian violence, leader of politico-religious party Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) was shot dead near his house in sector E-11.

Nawaz Irfani, Khateeb of Markazi Imambargah Parachanar, was returning home after attending majlis at Imambargah G-9/2, when assailant(s) gunned him down.

The deceased was on foot at the time.

People in the area rushed to the scene and found Irfani lying in a pool of blood.

He was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where he was pronounced dead.

Irfani had shifted to Islamabad a couple of month ago after receiving threats in Parachanar, police said.
