Shalimar SHO arrested, freed on court orders

2014-11-27
ISLAMABAD: The Shalimar SHO was arrested and released on Wednesday after he failed to comply with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) orders to appear in the court.

IHC Justice Noorul Haq N.

Qureshi, annoyed by his continued absence from the court proceedings in a bail petition filed by a murder accused, had issued his nonbailable arrest warrants.

The judge, however, withdrew his orders when the SSP Asmatullah Junejo turned up in the court and assured that investigating officers would be present in future hearings.

SSP Junejo also informed the court that following its orders, SHO Shalimar police station Sajjad Bokhari had been taken into the custody.

Justice Qureshi however withdrew the arrest warrants after his (SSP Junejo) assurances.

The court then adjourned the matter till a date to be fixed by the registrar of fice.

IHC Justice Qureshi was hearing the post arrest bail petition of Tahir Khan who iscurrently in Adiala jail in connection with the murder of Zahoor Ahmed.

Amed was assassinated allegedly by Khan and three others while he was grazing buffalo in the suburb of Islamabad. Additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ)ShahrukhArjumand on September 11, 2014 had dismissed his bail petition saying that since he was directly nominated in the FIR registered with Shalimar police therefore he was not entitled to ball.

During the hearing of the post arrest bail petition of Khan earlier in this week, barrister Jahangir Khan Jadoon, standing counsel of the federal government, informed the court that despite his repeated contacts, SHO Shalimar did not brief him about the case therefore he could not argue in the matter.

Barrister Jadoon also wrote a letter to the inspector general of Islamabad police and informed him that the SHO was not cooperating in the case. -Staff Reporter
