ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Wajid Shamsul Hasan, Pakistan`s former high commissioner to the United Kingdom, on Dec 1 in a case of alleged misuse of funds.
But Mr Hasan says he has not received any notice from the bureau.
A NAB`s spokesperson told Dawn on Thursday that Mr Hasan had been summoned to clarify his position in connection with an audit para in which he had been accused of misusing government funds.
He said the former high commissioner had been earlier summoned on Nov 24 but he did not respond.
`NAB`s issued second notice to Mr Hasan to provide him a fair opportunity to clear his position in the allegations levelled againsthim by the Auditor General of Pakistan,` the spol On the other hand, Mr Hasan who lives in the UK, told Dawn that because he had not received any notice he would not appear before NAB`s investigators.
He also said that he did not know what charges had been framed against him and by whom. `I don`t know anything about these notices, what are they about and why NAB has gone to the media without serving him notices. I only learnt from the media propaganda about it. Apparently it smells a rat.
Mr Hasan said he could not travel to Pakistan due to health complications and that he was under rigorous medical treatment in London these days. According to him, he was suffering from impairment of kidneys which are currently functioning 35 per cent, diabetes, high blood pressure and shortness of breath.
