THE Khairpur Nathan Shah tehsil is spread over 11,500 square kilometres, having a population of approximately 500,000 with about 500 schools.
Unfortunately, there is not a single library for students and the public, although the Sindh culture department had started an initiative for establishing a public library named after eminent poet Waf a Nathan Shahi. The ground breaking ceremony took place on Jan 16, 2013, and work was commenced by the works and service department.
However, construction work has not yet been completed because the contractor lef t the work half way four years ago.
Citizens of Khairpur Nathan Shah have raised the matter through demonstrations but the Sindh culture department has taken no action.
