The writer states that philanthropy on Facebook is gaining momentum in our country. The Pakistani people by nature are large-hearted and are in the forefront of any charitable cause.
The downside is that one can never be sure that the appeals made on the web are genuine. How is one to know that the supplicant is genuine and in dire need and not a con man when there are no checks to monitor the philanthropy? The question that arises in one`s mind is: will the aid reach the needy? I feel there should be a computer app to deal with such matters.
Such an app will prove a catalyst for making web-based philanthropy more effective.
