1,075 awarded degrees at IUB convocation

BAHAWALPUR: As many as 1,075 BS, B.Sc, M.A and M.Sc graduates, one Ph.D, 40 M.Phil scholars were awarded degrees besides 80 gold and 64 silver medals at the 15th convocation of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) here on Monday.

Dr. Qaisar Mushtaq, who presided over the convocation, claimed that during the previous four years 100,000 students were awarded degrees. In the development sector, he said, the buildings of two sub-campuses of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan had been completed.Presently, he said the building of f aculty of management sciences was being completed. On the occasion, the VC read out the message of Punjab Governor/Chancellor Chaudhry Sarwar.

WASTE-FREE CITY: Punjab Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhry has said that efforts are afoot to declare and upgrade Bahawalpur as waste-free city.

At a seminar here on Monday, the minister said a number of measures for the purpose were being taken in coordination with the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and other related institutions.
