Sikh pilgrims meet Naqvi

LAHORE:A delegation of Sikh pilgrims, who came to Pakistan to attend the 554th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, met with Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The Sikh delegation comprised 39 members, who submitted various suggestions to improve conditions for the foreigners coming to visit Sikh sacred places in Punjab.

CM Naqvi noted down the proposals and recommendations ofthe Sikh pilgrims and assured them of their early implementation.

On his direction, Auqaf Minister Azfar Ali Nasir and the additional chief secretary will visit Nankana Sahib to oversee the birth anniversary celebrations there.

He said that the ancient Gurdwara and old Havelis in Gujranwala would also be repaired and restored.

He promised to play his role in resolving the visa problem and other issues being faced by theSikh pilgrims.

Gayan Singh Gill, the leader of the Sikh delegation, said that Pakistani jaggery is nice and tasty and this product can be in high demand in Canada. He said Pakistan has an excellent opportunity to promote its business with Canada. He said that Lahorites and Amritsaris reside togetherin Canada.

Lauding the hospitality of Lahorites, he said that when they went to a hotel to take food, some brother paid their bill insistently.

SHEHBAZ: Pakistan MuslimLeague-Nawaz president Shehbaz Sharif has greeted the Sikh community on the 554thbirth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

In a post on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), Mr Sharif said Baba Guru Nanak had spread the message of peace and love across the world.

Welcoming the Sikh pilgrims coming to Pakistan from across the globe to celebrate Guru Nanak`s birth anniversary at Nankana Sahib, he hoped that they would return to their homes with the best memories.
