THE recent attack on the Quetta Railway Station is another heinous crime against innocent civilians and army personnel, carried out by one of the banned outfits operating in the country. Either directly or indirectly targeting military personnel has become a norm. With a rapid surge in attacks by terrorists, it is evidentthatthe issue is grave and needs urgent attention.
As usual, the ministers and government officials condemned the attack, and talked about ensuring the eradication of terrorism. Nobody said what exactly they would do, and how and when they would do whatever it was that they planned to do.
The recent attack on civilians and military personnel will be forgotten, just like past attacks, and, unfortunately, this vicious cycle of terror will go on, with those in power doing precious little beyond issuing various statements of sympathy for the people of Balochistan.
To stop these terrorist acts, serious efforts are needed. A full-scale military operation should be launched to grab the terrorists by the scruff of their neck, and to hold them accountable for their horrendous crimes.
Neutralising the threats posed by the terrorists and their sympathisers should be the government`s utmost priority.
