PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party on Thursday decided to dissolve its all organisational units in districts and in the province and begin a membership campaign from Jan 1.
The decision was made during a meeting of QWP`s federal and provincial executive councils with party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao in the chair here.
Mr Sherpao later told reporters that the QWP membership campaign would continue until Feb 20and once the campaign was over, intra-party elections would be held in line with the party`s constitution.
He said Haji Ghufran had been appointed the chief organiser to appoint district level organisers and supervise the membership campaign at provincial level.
The QWP chairman said former Peshawar High Court judge Shah Jehan would act as the chief election commissioner for the intraparty elections.
He said his party was making necessary arrangements for actively taking part in the local body elections, while workers had already been informed about preparing themselves for the electoral exercise.
Mr Sherpao said in case of any move against the government, his party would support the opposi-tion parties as no one could make solo flight.
`Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lacks sincerity and ability to resolve problems of Pakhtuns and is intentionally damaging image of the province at international level,`he said.
The QWP chairman said PTI chief Imran Khan was running the provincial government from his Islamabad house by remote control, while those at the helm of affairs in the province were unable to fulfil their pre-election commitments.
He said the government could not form the provincial assembly`s standing committees and therefore, the affairs of these committees were run through working groups comprising unelected people.
Mr Sherpao said the workinggroups` formation was a violation of the 18th Amendment of the Constitution. He said the standingcommittees needed to be formed within 30 days of the government`s formation. He said on one hand, PTI was claiming to control corruption but on the other, it was spending huge money on introduction of Right to Information Act.
The QWP chairman said the provincial government had no political will to control terrorism and initiate developmental schemes and therefore, the province was bound to go back where it was 20-25 years ago compared to Punjab.
He said Imran Khan was taking out processions against inflation in Punjab and blocking roads against Nato supply in Peshawar and that approach was unfortunate.
Mr Sherpao said the government had no plans to strengthen the provincial economy and that was why the local economic problems were fast worsening. He criticised Imran Khan for holding meetings with the provincial government`s officials in Peshawar and said it was totally unfair because as a party chief, he could give directions to the officials through his chief minister only.
`Addressing bureaucrats by Imran Khan is wrong,` he said.
The QWP chairman also flayed the PTI-led sit-ins against Nato supplies and declared it another wrong step of the ruling party, which, he said, would create problems for the country at international level.
He said the provincial government should stop involving itself in non-issues and should focus on development of the province and securing the Rs9 billion net hydel profit arrears from the centre.
