US medical boards` chief visits PMDC

ISLAMABAD: President and Chief Executive Officer of Federation of State Medical Boards of United States Dr Humayun Chaudhry visited Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Monday.

A detailed presentation of PMDC functioning was given to him on the occasion.

He also visited Army Medical College, Rawalpindi Medical College, CMH, Holy Family Hospital to see medical and dental education being imparted there.

He was briefed that at present 12,000 Pakistani physicians and specialist doctors were working in 56 different states of the US.

Out of 12,000 doctors 3,100 graduated from Dow University of Health Sciences, 1,900 from King Edward Medical College, then from Aga Khan University and Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore.

Dr Chaudhry, who is visiting Pakistan for the first time, said Pakistani doctors in the US were enjoying good repute and were considered best doctors.

He said he was impressed by the advancement Pakistan had made in the field of medicine.

Dr Chaudhry is also the Chair-Elect of International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA) which has 107 members from 47 countries including Pakistan. A Reporter
