TAXILA: A man has shot dead his nephew and injured another over a land dispute in Mailwah village in the limits of Fatehjang police station on Tuesday, police said.

Police, quoting the family of the victim, said that there was a land dispute between Muftah Din and his nephew Ishfaq Shams.

On Tuesday morning when Ishfaq was working in his field, Muftah came along with his friends and exchanged hot words, In the middle of arguments, Muftah showered Ishfaq with bullets killing him on the spot and injuring Shahzad.. On getting information, police reached the spot and shifted the injured and the dead to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

Fatehjang police have registered a case andlaunched further investigation.

Murder suspect arrested The Wah Cantonment Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) wanted in the double murder case of two brothers.

According to the police spokesman, the suspect identified as Zahid Khan stabbed Fazal Khan and Wahid Khan to deathover a monetary dispute at a stone crusher plant on July 9, 2021 and fled away.

The sources said that the victims and accused are cousins.

The suspect went underground after killing two brothers and subsequently was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by a local court.

The spokesman has said that a team of police led by SHO Amir Rafeeq raided the hideout of the suspect and arrested him.
