Three children among five bitten by stray dogs in Bajaur

BAJAUR: Stray dogs bit five people including four children in different areas of Bajaur district on Thursday.
Officials of health department said that two children were bitten by stray dogs when they were playing near their homes in Yousafabad area of Khar tehsil. They were shifted to district headquarters hospital Khar for treatment, they added.
They said that stray dogs attacked three people, including two children, who were returning homes from a nearby playground in Dag Qala village of Khar tehsil. They were also taken to Khar hospital.
Sources said that the hospital lacked anti-rabies vaccine and it was also not available in open market.
The vaccine was administered to the affected people when local political workers along with MPA Nisar Khan and officials of district administration visited the hospital and asked the management to arrange vaccinefor the patients.
People from all walks of life in the district expressed concerns over growing incidents of dog bites. They also demanded provision of vaccine to all healthfacilities in the district.
JIRGA: A jirga here on Thursday resolved a twodecade-old dispute between two tribes over the ownership of a mountain in Alizai area of Khar tehsil.
Scores oflocalelders,politicalactivists and social workers attended the jirga. Officials of district administration and police also participated in the event. The elders of rival tribes signed an agreement to remain peaceful in future.
The members of reconciliatory committee comprising elders and religious leaders from different areas of the region briefed the participants of the jirga about the cause ofthe dispute.
The jirga members resolved the issue dividing the mountain between both the tribes equally. They said that dialogue was the best and effective way to resolve all sorts of differences among locals. They asked people to settle their issues through negotiations and dialogue.
They said that traditional jirga system was an easy and durable mechanism for resolving disputes among locals.
