APROPOS the article `Office politics` (Jan 17). The old adage of `survival of the fittest` still holds true. People in the business world have to tolerate many hardships to achieve the goals set by theirorganisations. Similarly, for a new employee, it is hard to adjust himself in the organisation, and `of fice politics` may be the reason. However, this is a part of life.
Of fice politics are strategies people employ to gain advantage personally or for a cause that they support. The term of ten has a negative connotation, in that it refers to strategies people use to seek advantage at the expense of others or for the greater good.
However, there is `good` office politics.
This variety helps the individual to promote oneself f airly. It is also known as networking and stakeholder management.
