SECONDARY schools teachers appointed through the Balochistan Public Service Commission competitive exams have been deprived of promotion. The rules state 50 per cent of the promotion quota is for in-service teachers in lower cadres, and the remaining appointed through the competitive exams. The Balochistan High Court has also issued orders in this regard.
According to rules, 50pc seniorschoolteachers` vacancies are the right of in-service teachers, who should be inducted on the basis of their academic qualification and seniority. However, despite the court`s orders, the provincial bureaucracyisnotimplementing the promotion quota.
It is an irony that the teachers ranging from matriculate to masters` degreeholders are serving in the same cadre. The education department authorities are requested to resolve the matter.
