MULTAN: Two more patients of seasonal influenza H1N1 died here on Saturday at Nishtar Hospital, raising the death toll in the city to 40.

The deceased were identified as Mumtaz Bibi, 32 and Waseem, 22 of Khanewal.

Both were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Health officials however claimed that so far 38 people had died of the disease. One of the doctors treating the patients of H1N1 also fell victim to the disease and was identified as Dr Saddam.

Dr Saddam is the sixth doctor to have been infected with the virus out of whom three were from Nishtar Hospital. He was confirmed as H1N1 patient a couple days back and.

He was shifted to the isolation ward of the hospital for treatment.

As per hospital officials, 18 patients were still under treatment at Nishtar Hospital out of which 12 were confirme d H1N1 patient s.

Three are being treated at the ICU of the hospital.
