LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways Police (PR-Police) has temporarily suspended the recruitment process for 250 constables following directives issued by the National Assembly`s Railways Standing Committee on Jan 24.

According to a PR police spokesman, the written examination and interviews, originally scheduled for Feb 2 and 4, have been postponed. New dates, venues, and times for the tests and interviews will be communicated to candidates at a later stage.

In line with the standing committee`s instructions, the recruitment process for an additional 230 constables and otherposts will also be re-advertised in national and provincial newspapers. However, candidates who have already cleared the physical test under the previous advertisement will not need to reapply. They will only be required to appear for the written test and interviews, for which new roll number slips will be issued.

BOR: Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Punjab, Nabeel Javed, chaired a meeting to review the Annual Development Programme (ADP) schemes for 2024-25. Several ADP projects were reviewed and approved during the meeting.

These include the construction of a rest house in Taunsa tehsil of Dera Ghazi Khan and the development of three disas-ter management warehouses in Sargodha, Jhang and Rajanpur.

A new tehsil complex will be established in Shakargarh, while a district complex is under construction in Chiniot.

The meeting also approved the development of 13 new qanungoi buildings across various tehsils in Punjab.

Mr Javed said the state rest house in Taunsa is nearing completion, while the tehsil complex in Shakargarh will be constructed on 99 kanals. The Chiniot district complex, with a budget of Rs399.96 million, is 70 per cent complete.

Furthermore, disaster management warehouses in Jhang, Sargodha and Rajanpur are under construction on 8, 8, and10kanals ofland.The SMBR also announced the construction of 13 double-story ganungoi buildings in locations such as Sultanpur Jallo (Lahore), Mana Nawala (Sheikhupura), Dhannanwali Cemetery (Sialkot), Lalamusa (Kharian), Arifwala (Mianwali), Fazilpur (Rajanpur), Kahuta (Rawalpindi), Khangarh (Muzaffargarh) and Noor Shah (Sahiwal). These buildings will feature separate offices for patwaris, circle revenue officers and girdawars, along with waiting areas for citizens to enhance public convenience.

Mr Javed directed that all projects adhere to international construction standards and be completed within the stipulated timelines to ensure optimal services for citizens.
