ATC records prosecution`s testimonies

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday recorded testimonies of four prosecution witnesses in a May 9 case against former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other PTI leaders.

ATC-III Judge Arshad Javed conducted the hearing at Kot Lakhpat jail where the prosecution presented its witnesses.

During the hearing, the attendance of Mr Qureshi and other detained PTI leaders was marked in a makeshift court in the jail.

PTI leaders out on bail former MNA Aalia Hamza Malik and Sanam Javed also attended the jail proceedings of the case.

To date, statements from a total of 22 witnesses have beenrecordedinthe case.

The judge directed the prosecution to present more witnesses at the next hearing on Feb 6.

In this case, the PTI leaders face charges of provocative speeches and attacks at Sherpao Bridge during the May 9 riots.

Separately, ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill granted time to the prosecution to prepare arguments on its appeal to amend the indictment in a May 9 case related to the burning of Shadman police station.

The judge held the hearing at Kot Lakhpat jail.

During the proceedings, the prosecution requested additional time to present arguments on its application for amending the charges againstthe suspects.

Thejudge acceptedthe request and allowed the prosecution to prepare their arguments by Feb 3.
