Minorities to get dignified jobs thru` e-learning

TOBA TEK SINGH: Minority communities will be provided opportunities for dignified employment through e-learning under the Khushhali Fellowship Programme for Minorities.

Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora said this at an event organised at the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) in connection with Khushhali Fellowship Programme for Minorities.

The minister also spoke about the sustainable development goals with regard to the low-income Christian community in the country.

Mr Arora said the Punjab government will give minority cards to 50,000 members of minority communities this year,adding that 7000 of the recipients will be from Faisalabad.

At the ceremony, prizes were also distributed among the outstanding Christian students.

Former MPA Dr Najma Afzal and other speakers also spoke on the occasion.

Mary James Gill, founder of the Prosperity Fellowship Programme informed the participants about its goals.

GCUF Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-I-Azam said providing equal opportunities to the underserved communities in science and technology is crucial. `By investing in modern skills, we are laying the foundation for an inclusive and progressive society,` he added.

Canadian High Commission Secretary Fenny Hem said that Khushhali Fellowship Programme created an inclusive academic and professional environment for minorities.Dr Sofia Anwar stressed that this programme is a transformative step toward integrating women and minorities into the national mainstream. `We must continue to invest in such initiatives to create a more inclusive Pakistan,` she added.

GCUF Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Amin and former MPA Dr Najma Afzal also spoke.

GOVERNOR: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider has said the PPP will make party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari the next prime minister of the country.

Addressing a public meeting on Thursday at Khewa Adda on Chiniot Road in Jhang, he said that Bilawal will become premier with the struggle of party workers without imploring anyone.

He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was martyred for declaring Ahmadis as non-Muslims.On the occasion, a large number of members of the Odh (gypsy) community announced to join the PPP.

GIRL ABDUCTED: A 16-year old girl was allegedly kidnapped at Chak 334 JB, Gojra, on Thursday.

Nawan Lahore police said Samra Maseeh was alone at home when Mithas Maseeh of Faisalabad`s Chak 57 JB came by a car with his four accomplices and abducted the girl.

UAF: A specialised one-week training programme on analytical techniques commenced on Thursday at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF).

The programme is being conducted under the auspices of UAF Central Hi-Tech Lab, Office of Research Innovation and Commercialisation.

UAF VC Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan stressed the need for equipping the young scien-tists with modern tools to meet new challenges.

He said this initiative is a part of the university`s continuous efforts to foster not only theoretical learning but also practical knowledge.

As many as 290 trainees are enrolled for the programme from different universities, including GCUF, University of Education, GCWUF, Govt Graduate College Samanabad, The University of Faisalabad and Government College of Science Lahore.

Faculty of Sciences Dean Dr Haq Nawaz Bhatti, ORIC Director Dr Imran Arshad, Deputy Director Dr Abdul Rasheed, Dr Adnan Iqbal and Syed Fazil Bin Farukh also spoke.

The training will cover major areas of analytical sciences, offering an in-depth understanding of essential techniques.
