P E S H AWA R / N O W SHERA: Jamiat Ulema-iIslam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed his dissatisfaction over the performance of federal government and said that Mian Nawaz Sharif is also following the policies of the previous government.
Talking to journalists at the party`s office in Peshawar on Thursday, he said that he had serious reservations at the policies of the government. He claimed that his party did not join the government to enjoy luxuries.
Mr Fazl said that he joined government in the larger interests of masses but it seemed that government had failed to redress his reservations. He said that he was not a part of the negotiating team but still he wished success of the peace process. `I want success of negotiations and restoration of peace in the country,` he added.
The JUI-F leader also criticised provincial government and said that rulers had failed to overcome lawlessness as incidents of targeted killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom were increasing but no concrete policy was devised so far in that regard.
Meanwhile, addressing a conference in Nowshera, Mr Fazl criticised the legislatorsfor not presenting the recommendations of Council of Islamic Ideology in the parliament during the last 40 years.
`Council of Islamic Ideology is putting different recommendations since long but these are not presented for legislation in the National Assembly while other laws, supported by liberal forces, are tabled in the parliament on daily basis,` he added.
The JUI-F chief said that international imperialist forces were hatching conspiracies against the religious institutions in Pakistan and trying to link them with terrorist activities.
He said that they would fight against any force that wanted to harm religious seminaries.
He supported the ongoing peace talks between the government and Taliban and termed it the only solution for restoration of peace in the country. `Islam is a peaceful religion,` he added.
Mr Fazl said that some unIslamic forces were struggling at international level to show involvement of religious seminaries in terrorist activities. He said that government had imposed ban on registration of religious seminaries to please the unIslamic forces. The JUI-F chief alleged that bureaucracy was also involved in creating hurdle for religious institutions.
