PHCBA polls to be held next month

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court Bar Association on Wednesday dissolved its cabinet during a general body meeting after completion of its term and decided to hold its annual elections on April 26.

The meeting chaired by PHCBA president Ishtiaq Ibrahim appointed senior lawyer Khawaja Mohammad Khan Gara as the election commissioner and empowered him to select other members of the election commission.

Noted among speakers were PHCBA general secretary Imran Khan Matta, FM Sabir and Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

Mr Matta presented the PHCBA annual report, which was unanimously passed by the participants.

The PHCBA president praised the provincial chief minister for releasing a grant of Rs7 million to the association and expressed the hope that the money would be used on the lawyers` wellbeing.

He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general Lateef Yousafzai and additional advocate general Syed Qaisar Shah had played important role in the provision of the said grant.
