PM, army chief vow to punish terrorists

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifsaid onSundaythatterroristshad targeted his sons, daughters, brothers and sisters in Lahore and they would be brought to justice.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the PM House to review the security situation in the aftermath of the Lahore attack, he said terrorists were committing cowardly acts after suffering defeat. The prime minister called for unity and said the nation had to rise above differences to combat terrorism.

He was briefed by his security advisers on the attack. A statement issued by the PMHouse said that many important decisions had been taken at the meeting which continued for four hours.

It was attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and senior officials.-APP Our Staff Reporter adds: Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif also presided over a high-level meeting on Sunday night to discussthesecuritysituation,theInterServices Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The army chief ordered that attackers and perpetrators of the blast be brought to justice.According to Director General of ISPR Lt Gen Asim Bajwa, the meeting was attended by director general of Inter-Services Intelligence and chief of Military Intelligence.

He said the army chief directed commands and intelligence agencies concerned to start operations to nnd linkages and perpetrators ofthe Lahore suicide attack.

The ISPR DG quoted the COAS as saying: `We must bring killers of our innocent brothers, sisters and children to justice and will never allow these savage inhumans to overrun our life and liberty.
