Gunmen beat up police team, robbers injure man

ISLAMABAD: Culprits shot and injured a man during a robbery, while a gang of gunman beat and injured members of a police patrolling team, police said on Monday.

The police said three persons armed with weapons intercepted Mohammad Irfan at Shah Allahdita road when he was returning home from his health service office in in I-8 Markaz on a motorcycle. The gunmen held him at gunpoint and looted Rs3,000 cash, they added.

One of the robbers opened fire on him when Irfan started his motorcycle, the police said, adding that as a result he sustained two bullets in his left hand.

Shortly the robbers escaped from the spot, they said, adding that a case was registered over the incident at Golra police station.

In another incident a gang of gunmen beat and injured a police patrolling team, besides tearing their uniform at Barma Town, police said.

A case was registered at Khanna police station under324,148,149,427,353,186,212,and5060fPPC, they added. The police said a patrolling team in the area reached the crime scene after hearing gunshots where it found three gunmen firing in the air.

When they saw the police team they started firing at the police team, they added.

Fortunately, the police team remained safe, the police said, adding that in the meantime eight more persons armed with iron rod and baton arrived at the spot when the police caught one of the gunmen.

They attacked the police team and beat and injured them, besides tearing their uniform, they said, adding that they also set free the gunman from the police custody.

However, the police caught two attackers and later shifted them to police station for further legal action, they added. Staff Reporter
