OKARA: A widow was allegedly shot dead over a dispute over a residential plot at 45/SP village, Haveli Lakkha, on Sunday night.

As per the first information report (FIR), Farrukh Mahmood had a dispute over a residential plot which was in the possession of a widow, Munawwar Bibi, since a along.

The suspect, Farrakh, used to hurl threats of dire consequences to the widow to get the plot vacated.

On Sunday night, Farrukh, along with Imtiaz Ali and Tahir Mehmood and two unidentified armed accomplices entered the house of Munawwar Bibi and shot her dead.

The victim`s brother, Faizullah, has got a case registered against thefive suspects under sections 302, 109, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

CENSUS: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) Director Imran Saleem during a visit to the district inspected the ongoing national census and house enumeration (Khana Shumari) field work.

He was accompanied by divisional officer Omar Farooq and district coordinator Shakil Ahmad Saqib during the visit.

The director visited various blocks of the city and checked the already recorded census and house enumeration figures, besides the pace of the field work.

He appreciated the field supervisors, including Khizar Hayat,Rao Muhammad Ayub, Dawood Zaman and Muhammad Murtaza for their performance.
