IT was shocking to hear the news about the murder of a woman in Faislabad for not bearing a male child. The woman, who was a mother of two daughters, was beaten to death by her husband, accompanied by his family members. This happened in Punjab where the women`s protection bill is still under debate.
It is a grave matter and the government should take the responsibility of making people aware of the biological process. The government should educate the masses that it is not in the hands of a woman to decide the child`s gender.
Punishing the culprit is not enough to stop the crime. The government should educate the masses on a wide-scale and also employ strict measures to put an end to this barbaric act.
