LAHORE: Punjab School Education Department (SED) on Wednesday announced an enrollment campaign in all schools of the province from May 1 under the new academic year.

The department issued directions to all the chief executive officers (CEOs) of district education authorities (DEAs) to start enrollment campaigns for new admission 2022-2023.

According to a notification available with Dawn, `The School Education Department has already announced academic session from Aug 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 and the school-based assessment examinations under Punjab Examination Commission, are scheduled from May 9 to 20, 2022.

It further states that the competent authority has decided to start enrollment campaigns from May 1, 2022 at primary and elementary levels acrossthe province.

The respective CEO shall ensure fixing of realistic school specific enrollment targets along with capacity to accommodate the students and entry into School Information System (SIS) through heads of schools.

It states that in order to achieve 100 per cent enrollment of children, participation of all stakeholders including school councils, parents and notable persons, Khateeb, may be ensured and lowcost publicity strategy may be adopted to make it a success.

The department directed the district supervisory staff and heads of schools for strict compliance of the directions of the competent authority and progress reports should be forwarded to the Director Public Instructions (SE/EE) without f ail.

In 2021, the SED had claimed to achieve enrollment of 11,949,067 students in the schools in all districts of the province.
