LAHORE: A group show of calligraphy titled `The Spring of Hearts` featuring the works of national and international artists opened at Alhamra Art Gallery on Wednesday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Punjab Secretary of Information and Culture Raja Jahangir.

Some 33 or so works were put on display.

International participation was from Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Yemen and Tunisia. The exhibition featured both classic andcontemporary calligraphy pieces.

Raja Jahangir said that calligraphy had an important place in our culture and tradition. He held the calligraphy works in high esteem.

He said that the Punjab government was giving full attention to the promotion of visual and performing arts. Pakistan is the country where calligraphers have contributed a lot to the promotion of art.

Visitors took immense interest in the exhibition and praised the skill of calligraphers. The moving spirit behind the Pakistan Calligraphy Guild is Irfan Ali.
