GUJRAT: The Mandi Bahauddin police on Wednesday arrested three people for the killing of former bar president Mehmood Pervez Ranjha and his driver.

Ranjha and his driver were killed and three others, including the son of the slain lawyer, were injured in an ambush on April 23. A case was lodged against eight unidentified suspects with the Qadirabad police station.

The police arrested Awais Tariq, head of the suspects, who actually had a rivalry with Ansar Thukrana and thedeceased lawyer was a close friend as well as a legalcounselofThukrana.

The suspects killed Ranjha for being a legal strength of their rival.

DROWN: Four people went missing in the Chenab River near Kalowal village on Wednesday. A rescue operation was underway to trace them. Sources said that five people were swimming in the river when suddenly, swept away in the strong current.

A team of divers from Rescue 1122 launched the search operation and saved Talha, 18, of Chak Sada village, while Ali, 18, Waqas 27, Usman, 27, and Abdullah, 17, all of Chak Sada village.
